Vijay Letchuman, MD

Neurosurgery Resident

Vijay Letchuman is a neurosurgery resident at the University of California, San Francisco. Originally from Shreveport, Louisiana, he received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Medicine. During his time as a medical student, he was awarded a year-long research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) where he worked within the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. At the NIH, Vijay used novel magnetic resonance imaging modalities to improve the diagnostic accuracy of multiple sclerosis. Vijay joined the Savastano Lab in 2022 as he started his neurosurgery residency. He is excited to bring his prior experiences in basic, translational, and clinical science to the lab in an effort to develop new patient-centric treatment modalities and technology.
