Prabhat Kumar, PhD

Dr. Prabhat Kumar, originally from India, earned his PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay). With an immense passion for translational research in the field of medical device development, he joined Meril Healthcare in India as Manager R&D. There, he led teams from conceptualization to commercialization, refining his skills in research, project management, and strategic planning.

In May 2024, Dr. Kumar joined Dr. Savastano’s lab as a postdoctoral research scholar at the University of California, San Francisco. He brings a wealth of expertise in engineering and medical fields, specializing in the design and development of innovative technologies. Proficient in CAD design, analysis, and programming, Dr. Kumar has published extensively and mentored diverse teams in medical device development. 

His devotion to the societal impact of technology is evident in his stint as a Research Associate at IIT Delhi. His primary aim is to advance his translational research, aiming to establish a successful career in medical device development and research.
